Dresden is one of Germany's most beautiful cities — and at the same time one of the most divided. On the other side: the Äußere Neustadt — colourful, alternative, one of Germany's largest contiguous late-19th-century residential districts, with its own art scene, its own bars, its own identity. In between, the Elbwiesen, TU Dresden with over 30,000 students, the university hospital.

This split shapes dating. Swipe Tinder in Dresden and you're swiping through two populations with different expectations: the Altstadt world often wants a refined first date by the Elbe, the Neustadt world a spontaneous meet on Louisenstraße.
